At least four out of seven days a week, I spend a majority of my hours in some sort of workout-yoga-comfortable-pajamish-clothing. Activewear has transitioned from something we wear while working out, to something we wear while working out, running errands, cooking, cleaning, lounging, chatting, laughing, running kids, crying, laundry, eating, drinking wine…you get the picture. After realizing a good pair of yoga pants is as important as a good pair of jeans, I decided it was time to beef up my workout drawer.
One of the first quality pieces I purchased was from Neva [nee-vuh]. Founded by my friend Sacha Nana, she started the company on a mission to make quality activewear, with a purpose – at a very reasonable price!
It’s one of my favorite brands of athletic clothing. Neva makes clothing that actually gives back in a tangible way. To use their own words “NEVA employs talented artisans in South Asia, who would otherwise be jobless or underpaid, to hand embroider every NEVA piece. Earning 10 times their typical wages, these women and their children have income for food, electricity, healthcare and education.” At its core, Neva is a conscious clothing line putting good karma into the world. This brand empowers women and improves their lives through each purchase making a positive and lasting impact on them and their families. Oh yeah, did I mention it looks really good too.
Neva offers jackets, tanks, leggings and totes. New designs are being finalized, as well as new items such as sports bras, short and long-sleeve shirts. So, here’s the fun part. With the launch of the new items, there will also be NEW hand-stitched messages. Neva is asking Searle Girls readers to be a part of the creative process. Send or post to Neva’s Facebook Page some suggestions of inspirational messages you would like see to see on your activewear! What empowers you, makes you work harder, feel better, keep going when you think you can’t go anymore? Share the message and it may end up on the next round of Neva, possibly in a spot-dye or metallic thread to make it pop.
And in the continuous spirit of good karma, Neva is offering a 20% discount to you. Just type SearleGirls into the discount box at checkout. Sale will last through Thursday, June 18. So basically you can shop for items you’ll probably wear everyday, knowing a portion of your sale is going to help empower women, while saving money. Who can argue with that logic? You’re welcome.
Be the Change.
